Over the past weeks we have been working on one question in Company Task Management: what does a person actually need in the first thirty seconds after signing in. The answer was not "everything" — and the new features follow from that.

My day instead of a signpost

The dashboard now opens on a personal "What's on today" view. It is not a company summary but a list of things that concern you:

Today's tasks — completed in one click from the overview; click by mistake and you can undo it
Today's meetings — with RSVP and a button to join the video call
Action items from meetings — what somebody assigned to you, so it does not get buried in the minutes
Who is away today — before you write to someone and wait until next week

In projects that require approval, completing a task from the overview sends it for review rather than marking it done — and the button says so, so nothing surprises you.

Administrators and managers additionally see the leave requests waiting on them.

Global search

One box searches tasks, projects, meetings and people at once. Two things about it are worth mentioning.

First, it ignores diacritics. Searching for "porada" also finds "poráda", "ulohy" finds "úlohy". In Slovak and Czech that is not cosmetic — it is the difference between search working and not working.

Second, it respects permissions. Results are filtered by what the person is allowed to see, so search never reveals a project or meeting they could not otherwise open. The match is found in the text, but access is checked afterwards — not the other way round.

The app on a phone

CTM opened on a phone before, but usable was a generous description. We rebuilt the layout of the whole signed-in application: dashboard, boards, task detail, meetings, vacations and messages.

CTM is also a Progressive Web App — it can be added to an iPhone or Android home screen and opens like a normal app, with no app store download.

Message drafts

A message you have started writing is saved as a draft automatically and waits in its own tab until you finish it. Useful when the reply needs a number you do not have yet. A draft keeps the recipient, subject and body, is visible only to you, and can be deleted without sending.

Leave statistics that show who took nothing

The yearly usage overview now includes the people who have taken no leave at all — and they are exactly the group such an overview is opened for. Unused leave is hard to solve in December and easy in September.

The table collapses and loads only when opened, so it does not slow the page down for people who do not need it. Public holidays are marked in the calendar and excluded from working days — more in Who is available and when.

More reliable online status for users
Faster navigation — loading skeletons instead of a blank page, and functions moved closer to Europe
Public holidays in the vacation calendar and the day count shown with the request
