CTM on your desktop: an app for Windows and Mac
The same app you use in the browser, in a window of its own — with an icon in the taskbar, no tabs and no closing it by accident. Installing takes a minute; the account and the data stay exactly the same.
Its own window, not another tab
CTM gets its own icon in the taskbar and the Dock, and one Alt+Tab away. You won't close it along with twenty tabs, and you won't have to hunt for it among them.
Same account, same data
The app connects to the same platform as the browser. Nothing syncs or gets copied to your computer — what you do in the window, a colleague sees in the browser straight away.
Video calls inside the window
A call from a meeting or a project opens in the app, not in the browser. The system asks for the camera and microphone once, on your first call.
Calendars connect through the browser
The app opens Google Calendar and Outlook sign-in in your system browser — Google refuses to authenticate inside embedded windows. Once you confirm, you come straight back to CTM.
What the app needs
- Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit). The WebView2 component ships with the system; on older Windows 10 builds the installer adds it for you.
- macOS 10.15 Catalina or newer. One installer for both Apple Silicon and Intel.
- A permanent internet connection. The app is a window into the platform — the data lives on the server and there is no offline mode.
Your system will warn you the first time
The installers are not signed with a certificate yet, so Windows and macOS ask you to confirm. It is neither an error nor a virus — the system simply cannot verify the publisher.
- Windows: in the SmartScreen dialog click “More info”, then “Run anyway”.
- macOS: after moving CTM to Applications, right-click it, choose “Open”, then confirm “Open”.
Is the CTM desktop app the same product as the web app?
Yes — it is the same Company Task Management platform, opened in a native window instead of a browser tab. The app holds no separate database and no local copy of your work: it talks to the same server, so a task you create in the window shows up instantly for a colleague working in the browser. Nothing needs to be migrated or synchronised, and you sign in with the account you already have.
How much does the desktop app cost?
Nothing extra. The app is a free client for an existing CTM account and works on every plan, the Free plan included. What you can do inside it is decided by your organisation's plan — the same limits that apply in the browser — so installing it neither adds nor removes features. There is no separate desktop licence and no per-device fee.
Does CTM work offline?
No. The desktop app is a window into the platform, not a copy of it, so it needs an internet connection just like the browser does. If the connection drops while the app starts, it says so plainly instead of showing a browser error page, and your data stays untouched on the server. Offline editing with later synchronisation is not part of the product today.
Why does Windows or macOS warn me when I install it?
Because the installers are not yet signed with a code-signing certificate. Windows SmartScreen reports an unknown publisher and macOS Gatekeeper refuses a plain double-click; in both cases the file is fine, the system simply cannot verify who published it. On Windows choose “More info” and then “Run anyway”; on macOS right-click the app and choose “Open”. Signing is planned and will remove both warnings.
How does the desktop app get updated?
The part you actually use — the app itself — updates on its own, because it is served from our servers: every time you open the window you get the current version, exactly as in the browser. Only the native shell around it (the window, the menu, the installer) has a version of its own, and that one changes rarely. When it does, you download the new installer from this page and run it over the existing installation.
